Mayura Park, Lombok=>>> As one of the best tourist destination in Indonesia, Lombok does
have a diverse attractions. One of them is Mayura Park. In this article, I will try to
review some of the cultural heritage on the island of Lombok. This park is not as popular as Senggigi Beach of Lombok. Mayura Park is
one of the heritage spot owned by Indonesia. This beautiful park is a tourist
attraction that you must visit if you traveled in to island of Lombok.
The location of Mayura Park is fairly easy to access, located
in the Village of East Cakranegara, District Cakranegara in Mataram. It is not
far from local shopping mall, you can go on foot to reach the park location.
Actually, in the west of the park was once a Royal Castle complex Cakranegara,
unfortunately now it has turned into a location of residential, shops and
offices complexes.
Taman Mayura or Mayura Park has a long history. This park
has been existed since the Kingdom
Singasari or Karangasem Sasak in Lombok in the early 19th century. At that time
in Lombok, there were still small kingdoms, such as Mataram,
Pagesangan, Sengkano and so on.
Mayura actually park has undergone many changes, originated
from the Dutch government in 1919 did the first restoration. And then after the
independence of Indonesia, in 1961 was the restoration to add two gates on the
south side of the park.
However, two additional gate was finally removed at the time
of restoration carried out by the Director General of Culture Ministry of
Education and Culture with the aim to restore the authenticity of the building.
Mayura Cakranegara park is not just a tourist attraction,
historical and cultural heritage as well as surrounding communities use that site
for spiritual activities. So do not be surprised, when you visit to this place and
you see some people are doing ritual worship. Various Hindu communities perform
the ritual here are not only local
communities, but some of them also come from outside Lombok Island.
